The doc here is awesome! He's got the Favre wranglers up to his belly button and hiking shoes. It's like the 90's in here. Wish I could take a pic. So funny... I'm bored.

I'm doing all of my medicals today. I always procrastinate. Oh well. This is my last text for a while. I'm waiting for my eyes to get dilated. At least I'm smarter than Brian Stann. He tried to spar on tuesday with his eyes dilated. I was look "dude...what's wrong ur not even looking at me." That was while we were sparing.

Checking out Settle. Have an hour to kill

Oh, and I never gave away the buckle. My posts didn't go up in time due to problems with my blog. I'll figure out another giveaway soon.

Great show last night. It was real cool to see and talk to the amateur fighters. It's hard to go started in this sport. It takes a lot of sacrifice.

Friday, January 15, 2010

I just landed in Seattle. I'm doing some appearances here. Not sure where yet, though. I'll put it out once I find out. I just know there is a fight here. If I have any followers here in Seattle I'll be giving away one of my belt buckles to the first person that says "I want the MEANbuckle!" You can see them on my website

Also, @brianstann is getting real good with his karate chop. Thanks bud. Shoulder is real sore.

Good sparing today. I blocked all of @joeysvillasenor punches with my head. He'll be icing his hand all weekend for sure.

Warrior Roots

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

Check out this article.  My friend Tom Murphy from TUF season 2 started this company for charity.  They actually check your DNA to see where your ancestors are from.  I had to do it because I'm a sucker for history, especially the Jardine history.  I was shocked by the result.

Do you know who you are?  Do you know where you came from?  I bet you have no clue!  Just ask The “Dean of Mean” Keith Jardine and you might be a little surprised by what he found out.

Jardine is one of the most imposing figures in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) today and people often comment on his Viking like appearance.  It is no accident that we associate today’s modern day gladiators with ancient warrior cultures of the past.  These warriors are fighting with the same skill, talent, and athletic ability that their ancient ancestors used to see a new day.  The big question is, who were Jardine's ancestors?

The “Dean of Mean” is a heck of a lot more than just one of the best fighters on the planet; he also has a deep appreciation for history.  Where do we come from?  How did we get here?  Looking for those answers Jardine used his brains rather than brawn by enlisting the help of science, the same way he approaches the fight game; smart!

Jardine can fight and compete because thousands of generations of his forefathers were strong enough and successful enough to have a son, who in turn was able to also have a son, all the way down till Jardine was a twinkle in his father's eye.  Most individuals can only look back at their own history a couple hundred years before running into the genealogical “brick wall.”  The brick wall is when the public and private records of your ancestors run out and it looks like the tracks into history run cold.

Back from Rashads fight

Monday, January 4, 2010

I hate leaving town during my camp but its always good to go to a UFC while in training. It reminds you of what your dying for in practice. Great workouts today. It's good having Brian Stann back in Albuquerque.

Saturday, January 2, 2010

Congrats to Daniel and Casillas. They got 2 tics

UFC Tickets

Next, I will be at the MGM at 4. Will be walking through the lobby to the box office and back. I will have my black Tapout hoodie pulled up. Tap me on the shoulder and say "tell Rashad good luck". You will get 2 tickets. I will give 2 more away at the Starbucks in the Hard Rock around 5.

UFC tickets

I have extra tickets for the UFC fights tonight. If ur in vegas come find me. I'll be at the Caesars sports book from 3 to 315. If nobody finds me I'll be somewhere at the Hard Rock a lil later. I'll let you know where. Just tap me on the shoulder and say "Tell Rashad good luck." Then I'll give you 2 tickets.

It looks like I'm not going to be there. Spencers wasn't prepared for us so Tapout is taking us back. They had no idea we were coming. Wow! Going to go check out the city center now.

I'm doing a signing at the Spencers at Meadows mall in Vegas from 12 to 2 today.

Friday, January 1, 2010

Just landed in Vegas. Will be at club Lavo at the Palazo tonight with the Tapout crew.

About This Blog

I was born in Butte, Montana.
A proud town known for its hard nosed rough sort of people. From there, I moved to a small town in Central Oregon where I spent a number of years before moving to Southern California. This is where I went to Canoga Park High School and then LA pierce Junior College.

I spent my last two years of college football at a division II school in Las Vegas New Mexico called New Mexico Highlands University. I finished playing football there and then coached for a few years when I met a guy teaching mma at the local rec. center. I was sold right away and drove to Albuquerque to meet Greg Jackson, who was already well known in the area. I then decided to move to Albuquerque to train with him. That was in 2000 and I have been here every since.

I got my big break in 2005 when, after my training partner Diego Sanchez did so well on The Ultimate Fighter season 1 where I got the opportunity to be on the second season of the show. Although I didn't win, I learned a lot from both Rich Franklin and my training partners while at the same time developing lifelong friendships. The show was great for my career, and has given me the opportunity to become a full time fighter and to progress to where I am today.

I have had 11 fights now in the UFC and I am currently regarded as one of the best fighters in the world.
