It was good to see Nate Marquardt in the gym this morning.

Go to and then go to Buck and Dex on demand to check out today's interview.

On my way to the Buck & Dex show this morning.

Both Jon Jones and Brian Stann left Albuquerque today for their fight Sunday. I'm excited for them. Jon gained a lot of mass and isn't the skinny guy anymore. Brian dropped to 185 and is stronger and faster than ever. I'm expecting to see both guys step up their game this weeks. It sucks for me cause training won't be so good around here with them gone.

I hate parking cops or whatever they are called. Of all the jobs in the world they chose that one. They should wear a mask.

Just rode by this place in Albuquerque. No really my thing but hey...

Step 1

Saturday, July 17, 2010

My objective in fighting is to fight the best fighters in the world. Also, my goal is to one day fight for the UFC light heavyweight title. On sept 11th I will take my first step toward that goal. Shark fights have given me the opportunity to restart my career on ppv. I will be fighting Trevor Prangley who is a tough and gritty fighter with a good record. I've been following his career for a long time and it will be an honor to fight him.
Thank you Shark Fights for this opportunity. I'm very excited and even more hungry. Leaving the UFC as I did has left a bad taste in my mouth. Also, thank you to everyone who has supported me.

The Porter Draw

One of my favorite bands is playing here at Ernie Pyle Library. Was just cruising around on my motorcycle and saw em.

Penn & Teller: Bullshit!

Friday, July 9, 2010

Has anyone seen "Penn & Teller: Bullshit!" On Showtime? I've seen 3 episodes and I think it one of the best shows on TV. Their episode about martial arts is right on. So funny!

Back from vacation

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

I'm just getting back from a week in mexico. I spent most of my time at the Cerritos Surf Colony learning to surf. Surfing, great food, good tequila, and great people. What more?
Now I'm getting settled in at home and getting back to the real world. I've already verbally agreed to a fight that I'm very excited about. I hope to announce it soon. I'm excited to get back to training at Jacksons and spending more time at my new MEAN1 gym. Here's to a new beginning!

Pic from Mexico

I just got back from the Cerritos Surf Colony. Had a great time up there but absolutely no phone service for days. That was nice to actually. Here is a pic from Los Cabos where I'm at now.

About This Blog

I was born in Butte, Montana.
A proud town known for its hard nosed rough sort of people. From there, I moved to a small town in Central Oregon where I spent a number of years before moving to Southern California. This is where I went to Canoga Park High School and then LA pierce Junior College.

I spent my last two years of college football at a division II school in Las Vegas New Mexico called New Mexico Highlands University. I finished playing football there and then coached for a few years when I met a guy teaching mma at the local rec. center. I was sold right away and drove to Albuquerque to meet Greg Jackson, who was already well known in the area. I then decided to move to Albuquerque to train with him. That was in 2000 and I have been here every since.

I got my big break in 2005 when, after my training partner Diego Sanchez did so well on The Ultimate Fighter season 1 where I got the opportunity to be on the second season of the show. Although I didn't win, I learned a lot from both Rich Franklin and my training partners while at the same time developing lifelong friendships. The show was great for my career, and has given me the opportunity to become a full time fighter and to progress to where I am today.

I have had 11 fights now in the UFC and I am currently regarded as one of the best fighters in the world.
